Helping to maintain the wilder area; trimming and thinning out grasses which will allow more space and more light for the wildflowers to establish themselves. The majority of work in this area is conducted with care not to disturb the surface and usually undertaken outside of the time when common lizards and slow worms are active which reduces the risk of accidental injury as they are protected in the UK under the wildlife and countryside act 1981
Care is also taken to avoid any flowering plants such as crocus
