Protecting nesting birds on the island
As they are unable to warden it this year, Cumbria Wildlife Trust have roped off a large area of Foulney that birds such as terns are using to nest.
They are also advising any visitors to take extra care and watch where they are walking as birds nest all over the island, including on the shingle and beach, and can be very difficult to spot.
